The rules in plain English
Premier League last man standing — also called a survivor pool, knockout sweepstake or last team standing — is the simplest football game there is. Every gameweek you choose one Premier League club. If that club wins or draws, you go through to the next week. If they lose, your season ends there. The catch is the no-repeats rule: once you have used a club, it is gone for the rest of the competition, so twenty clubs means at most twenty gameweeks of picks and a shrinking pool of safe options as the season goes on.
Deadlines and missed picks
Picks lock at the first kickoff of the gameweek. That is usually Saturday lunchtime, but a Friday night fixture pulls the deadline forward, which is the single most common way players get caught out. If you miss the deadline you are not eliminated automatically — you are assigned the first available club alphabetically from the teams you have not used yet. It is rarely the pick you would have made, so set a reminder.
What happens when everyone goes out
If every remaining player loses in the same gameweek, the standard resolution is to treat everyone who was still alive going into that week as joint winners. If two or more players survive to the end of the fixture list, they share the title. Hosts can also allow re-entry in the early weeks, which keeps casual players involved.
Standard rules vs host settings
Everything above describes the standard EPL Knockout ruleset. League owners can change several of these settings, so always check your own league page before you plan a season:
- Team reuse. Under standard EPL Knockout rules, a club can only be used once. League owners can optionally enable Team Reuse wildcards or customised reuse settings.
- Re-entry. Off by default. Owners can optionally allow eliminated players to re-enter for a set number of early gameweeks.
- Missed picks. Standard behaviour assigns the first available unused club. Owners can optionally treat a missed pick as elimination.
- Wildcards. Off by default. Owners can optionally enable Double Life, Skip a Week, Team Reuse and Insurance Week.
